Dr. Paul Bogere (BVM, MSc) is an Assistant Lecturer of Animal Science in the Department of Animal Science. He holds a Bachelor of Veterinary medicine degree from Makerere University, Kampala, and an MSc in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science from Jeonbuk National University, South Korea. Bogere has a two-years’ experience in research related to biomarkers of intestinal inflammation in livestock, use of probiotics as replacers of antibiotics in livestock diseases management. He has optimized an ELISA protocol for calprotectin quantification in swine faecal samples. He has strong interest in research related to antimicrobial resistance in animals and humans; its surveillance, diagnosis and development of alternatives to antibiotics in livestock.
Additionally, Dr. Bogere is an advocate for the One Health approach in tackling emerging and re-emerging disease epidemics at the Animal-Human-Environment interface having participated in the pioneer One Health engagements under One Health Central and East Africa (OHCEA).
He has published articles in peer reviewed journals in the areas of food safety, emerging and remerging pandemics, probiotics in swine and aflatoxins in animal feeds.
