Ms. Sandra Langi is an Assistant Lecturer of Aquaculture at the Department of Animal science. She holds a Master of Science degree in Aquaculture from Ghent University, Belgium and a Bachelor of Science degree in Fisheries and Aquaculture from Makerere University, Uganda. Sandra has extensive experience in Fisheries and Aquaculture having worked in both private and public sector. In the private sector, she worked with Pearl Aquatics Limited; a commercial fish farm producing tilapia in fish cages on Lake Victoria. In the public sector, she worked as a fisheries officer with the Adjumani District Local Government to ensure sustainable utilisation of fisheries resources in the district. Sandra’s research focus is aquaculture nutrition. For her master’s thesis, she investigated alternative protein sources (poultry by-products) as fishmeal alternatives in feeds for European pike perch. She hopes to translate that research to focus on locally available alternative protein sources in feeds for commercially important fish species in East Africa.

Her areas of research interest include; Aquaculture nutrition, Sustainable aquaculture production systems, Fish Health, Fisheries biodiversity conservation, Fisheries socio-economics.
