Mr. Polycarp Omara is an Assistant Lecturer and Head of Department of Foundations of Education. He holds a Master of Education in educational leadership and management from Aga Khan University, Institute for Educational Development, East Africa (Dar Es Salaam Campus) and currently pursuing PhD in educational planning and management.

Before joining Muni University, Mr.Omara was a secondary school teacher (1998 to 2016) where his undeniable leadership skills saw him through various administrative responsibilities including being Head of Department, Director of studies and deputy head teacher among others.
From 2015 to date, he is a professional development trainer with Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development, East Africa.

He has attended several local and international professional trainings including Inter-University Research Methods Training by AfriChild- Uganda; Research and Proposal Writing in the Sciences- EASTECO funded by AUTHORAID/INASP; Gender Equity Research Alliance (GERA), funded by INASP; International Deans’ Course Africa, funded by DIES/DAAD; Engendering Social Science Research, Ibandan, Nigeria, funded by PASGR, among others.

He is currently participating in Denmark Uganda Vietnam (DUVE) Exchange project on reduction of violence against children, funded by European Union (Erasmus+); Gulu university Teacher Professional Development Project funded by Common Wealth of Learning and Reduction of Violence Against Children in refugee educational setting in West Nile, Funded by AfriChild- Uganda. His research areas include school-community partnership, educational supervision, violence against children in educational settings, teacher competence, quality assurance in higher education and current issues in education among others.
